Just when it looked like WWE had a new women’s tag team locked in for WrestleMania season, Natalya pumped the brakes—hard.

On Saturday, RAW GM Adam Pearce confirmed on social media that Natalya and Maxxine Dupri would form a new tag team, set to debut next week on Friday Night SmackDown. The pairing was announced ahead of a Women’s Tag Team Gauntlet Match, where the winners will earn a title shot against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at WrestleMania 41.

The move seemed official—until Natalya broke her silence. In a post to her Instagram Stories, the WWE veteran responded to the news and made it clear she hasn’t signed off on anything just yet. “Adam Pearce might have us teaming, but we’re not a team just yet, @maxxinedupri. We need to talk. See you Monday.”

That comment threw a wrench into what was shaping up to be Maxxine Dupri’s big tag team debut. Dupri had already celebrated the announcement online, thanking Pearce and excitedly tagging Natalya in a post that read, “THANK YOU, @ScrapDaddyAP; on cloud 9. @NatbyNature, I told you my meeting with King P would be successful!!!! AHHHHH!”

While it’s clear Dupri is ready to roll, Natalya isn’t exactly on the same page—at least, not yet. Whether this is a case of miscommunication, or a sign of things to come on TV, is anyone’s guess. But as of now, what looked like a confirmed new team is clearly still under negotiation.

Do you think Natalya will agree to team with Maxxine Dupri, or is this partnership already falling apart before it begins? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
