WWE has experienced many changes since Triple H became Head of Creative, and the company is currently thriving. However, not everything is perfect, as there has been some backstage frustration regarding the women’s division being underutilized. Natalya has now addressed these concerns and the reports surrounding the issue.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Natalya talked about the issue of women not getting enough screen time in WWE and the reports about the same. She pointed out that in today’s world, everyone has a platform through social media, and it’s easy to express frustration publicly. However, she prefers to stay positive and focus on what she can do to contribute.

Natalya mentioned that while she would have loved to be the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion, she believes it’s important to have the right story behind any major achievement. She thinks people today expect things to happen quickly, but creating a good, meaningful storyline takes time.

Natalya also said that booking a wrestling show every week is tough, and there are a lot of behind-the-scenes factors, like injuries, that fans might not know about. Although she wants to do more in WWE after 18 years, she understands that timing is important, and she believes the right opportunity will come soon. She hinted that there could be some big announcements coming.

“Here’s my thing, and it kind of goes back to what I was saying earlier. I was talking to my mom, I talk to my mom about everything, and I was saying sometimes it’s so easy, especially nowadays. We all have a platform. If you’re on Twitter, you’re on Instagram, you’re on TikTok, you’re on social media, you have a platform. That’s the cool thing about this day and age is that everybody has a voice. It is so easy. It would be so easy for me to go on social media and be like, ‘I’m mad about this, and I’m mad about that, and I should have this and I should have that…’ I would have loved to have been the first-ever Women’s IC Champion. I would have loved that.

For me, and this is the big thing is that there just has to be the right story. I think everybody wants everything now, we’re living in a world of instant gratification where we want everything right now. So there’s always going to be times where people feel like we should have this, and the Women’s Division should do that, and that there should be this. I do think that booking a weekly TV show, it’s not easy, especially because there’s lots of things that happen behind the scenes that people just don’t know about. Somebody gets hurt, or somebody can’t make it or this isn’t where we’re going for the big picture.

Of course I would love to do more in WWE, but I also want there to be the right story. Especially being somebody that has been in WWE for 18 years, I would love to do more, but I also understand that timing is everything, so I have faith that the right story will come. And actually, I feel like we’re right around the corner from some big announcements being made, especially with what I’m doing, I’m leaving you guys on such a cliffhanger, those stories will come to fruition.”

Instead of complaining, Natalya prefers to suggest new ideas. Even if her ideas get turned down at first, she keeps trying until something works. She believes that good things are on the way.

Natalya also mentioned that WWE has a bigger women’s roster now than before, which is both a good thing and a challenge. More talent means more opportunities, but it also means making sure every woman has a meaningful spot. She remembered a time when she was on TV a lot but wasn’t always in important storylines.

“So yeah, it’s easy to critique, but at the same time I try to be patient, I try to empathize. And also, the one thing I do is make suggestions. Rather than be like, I should have this, I should have that. I go, ‘Hey, I have an idea’, ‘We don’t like that.’ ‘Hey, I got an idea.’ ‘We don’t like that.’ ‘Hey, I got an idea.’ Something is going to stick. So I have faith, I think that things are going to get exciting. It’s just not easy, because also, right now we just have so many women, and I think that it’s a good thing but it’s also challenging, because you want to make sure that everybody has a special place.

I think that’s the thing is that back a few years ago, sometimes I’d be on TV every single week, but I wasn’t always doing the most meaningful things. I mean, at one point I was passing gas. I’m joking about that but I think what I do like about this new era is that we’re just trying to find the right stories. I think we all want more. It’s you’re only human to want more. But I also think that let’s just see what happens.”

This all follows a report from Fightful Select that said several women in WWE are unhappy with how the women’s division is being handled on the main roster. It was noted that many are upset that there isn’t much effort to build new challengers, the women’s tag team division isn’t being used well, and that only a few top stars get most of the screen time. Many feel like the rest of the women don’t get enough chances to be on TV or have real storylines.

Regardless of the issues, Natalya has made it clear that complaining about booking won’t change anything. Instead, she’s focused on doing her part to help improve the women’s division and grow as a performer. Her goal is to keep pushing forward, stay positive, and make the most of every opportunity she gets.
