Naomi isn’t dodging the past—she’s owning it. Fresh off her huge victory at WWE Money in the Bank, the new briefcase holder addressed her infamous 2022 WWE walkout for the first time in front of the cameras and made it clear she’s back with a purpose.
During the post-show panel, Naomi reflected on how that walkout, which she took alongside Sasha Banks (now AEW’s Mercedes Moné), completely reshaped her mindset. The two were WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time but left after a dispute backstage over how they were being handled—reportedly handing their titles to then-Talent Relations EVP John Laurinaitis on their way out. Now, Naomi says the time away was necessary for her evolution.
“After experiencing my little situation, my walk out and coming to TNA, I came back with a different mindset and different attitude,” she said. “I think it is the one that I needed all along. The glow in the beginning of my career got me this far, but I felt with this new revelation and evolution of women in this top-tier talent, I had to become something else to get back to the top. That is what I’m on the journey of doing and becoming now. Everybody who don’t believe in me, like it, or got something to say better proceed with caution.”
Naomi’s statement came just moments after Becky Lynch, now the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, took a shot at her during the post-show press conference—suggesting Naomi walked out on her and should think twice before trying to cash in her Money in the Bank contract.
“I’m not afraid of nothing,” Lynch said. “Oh, everyone wants to see Naomi get an opportunity now? Naomi walked out on me. She thinks she’s going to come for me, she’s got another thing coming.”
Lynch revealed the sting was personal—her daughter, watching from the front row for the first time, was rooting for Naomi.
“You know what was the most hurtful thing is that tonight, my child watched the show live in the audience in the very front row for the first time. You know who she wanted to see win that match? She wanted to see Naomi win that match, so I have a problem with that.”
Naomi didn’t waste time firing back with a direct warning to Lynch—and every woman holding gold in WWE.
“Oh baby, you better sleep with one eye open and watch your back too because nobody with gold in this division is safe.”
Naomi’s win came against a stacked lineup that included veterans like Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss, as well as recent main roster call-ups Roxanne Perez, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer. Meanwhile, Lynch won her title after pinning Lyra Valkyria—only to get dropped with a suplex and Nightwing post-match.
This wasn’t just a win for Naomi—it was a message. She left WWE when she didn’t feel valued. Now, she’s returned with a contract in hand and a chip on her shoulder.
Do you think Naomi’s time away made her stronger—or should WWE still be cautious about trusting her again? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
