Controversy can erupt all over the pro wrestling world, even in the audience. During the December 17 AEW Dynamite tapings in Manchester, things got real.

A fan may have done more than just post a clip this week, because footage from AEW Dynamite in Manchester ended up putting the company in an uncomfortable spotlight. What started as a fan sharing a video online quickly turned into a situation where AEW’s crowd control and response were questioned in public.

The incident happened after Jack Perry threw a plush toy into the crowd, and then two fans grabbed it at the same time. Before the situation could settle, a third person rushed in from behind and put one of the fans in a chokehold.

Other fans nearby stepped in and broke it up before it went any further. The person who was choked did not appear to be seriously hurt. Afterward, the person who initiated the chokehold argued with people around him and eventually left the area with a woman who had been involved in the initial scramble.

The situation escalated further when a fan took to social media and named people involved, directly calling out AEW and the individuals shown in the footage.

“The assholes in this video are @SimonHOfficial & @TheLeahRaven btw, both people who work in the industry and should KNOW BETTER. Hold these f*ckers accountable and don’t let them get away with this”

AEW has not issued a public statement about the altercation or the claims about who was behind that heinous stunt. We will have to see what happens next, or if any charges are eventually pressed.

The same Dynamite taping also saw another fan claim that security confiscated his Palestinian flag and told him to hand it over or leave the building. So, it was an eventful night.
