The February 24 episode of NXT was a loaded episode. That included a couple of title matches, and the North American Title was on the line in the main event.
This week on WWE NXT, the NXT North American Championship will be on the line as champion Ethan Page defends against rising challenger Myles Borne.
Page has made it clear since capturing the title that he plans to redefine what dominance looks like in NXT. Confident, sharp on the mic, and ruthless in the ring, he’s treated every defense like a statement opportunity. This week was no different.
This match had a lot of hype behind it. If Ethan Page was able to retain his title, then he would surpass Oba Femi and Carmelo Hayes with the most NXT North American Title defenses in history. That was a notch he wanted to put on his belt.
Myles Borne didn’t let up at all, and he brought a ton of intensity to the match. Then Ethan Page was able to land a Razor’s Edge on the announce table just before they cut to a commercial break.
This match broke down into a back-and-forth contest. Fans were split for this match as each Superstar had a good bit of the fans behind them. Just as Myles Borne hit a Borne Again, the Vanity Project ran down.
Then Hank, Tank, and Shiloh Hill ran down to fight off the Vanity Project. Ricky Saints got on the top rope, but Joe Hendry pulled him down and fought him off. In the end, Borne pushed Page into an exposed turnbuckle as he escaped a Twisted Grin. Then he nailed another Borne Again and won the match to become the new NXT North American Champion and kill Ethan Page’s dream of breaking that record.
