Montel Vontavious Porter isn’t just questioning Valentine’s Day — he’s also calling out what he sees as a marketing imbalance.
During the same conversation where he dismissed February 14 as unnecessary, MVP pivoted to the unofficial March 14 holiday often referred to as “Steak and BJ Day,” joking that it deserves more promotion — especially from Hallmark.
As the topic came up, MVP pointed out the contrast between the heavy marketing push for Valentine’s Day and the relative silence around its so-called male counterpart.
“Hallmark need to tighten up and do more promoting of that because I ain't heard about it. I don't know about it. And I don't know too many — I don't hear women talking about it.”
He kept things humorous while leaning into the playful nature of the holiday.
“You give me some steak and I'll give you some tube steak and we… some trouser trout.”
Though clearly joking, MVP’s larger point remained consistent with his earlier comments — appreciation in relationships shouldn’t feel one-sided or transactional. If there’s a day celebrating one side, he’s amused that the “return favor” version doesn’t get the same mainstream attention.
Whether you take it as comedy or commentary, MVP definitely had fun with the idea.
