Mr Kennedy had a rocket strapped to his back and fans felt he was going to be the next big thing in WWE, but it didn’t turn out that way as he was eventually released back in May 2009. It’s been 16 years since his last WWE appearance and now Kennedy has revealed his stance on potentially returning to WWE.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Mr. Kennedy was asked if he wanted to return to WWE after being released. He said that at the time, he had no interest in going back and didn’t want to return.
While he didn’t intend to completely burn bridges with the company, he felt strongly about not working there again, especially during his time in TNA. Back then, he believed he would never return. However, his feelings have changed over time and now he says he would definitely be open to going back.
“I didn’t want to, I swear to God, I had no desire. I think that I never wanted to blow the bridge up completely. But I really had no desire. When I was at TNA, I was like, I’ll never go back there. I’ll never work for them again. Now it’s changed. I would definitely go back now.”
Mr. Kennedy addressed rumors surrounding John Cena and Randy Orton’s alleged involvement in his WWE release, as he made it clear he was responsible for getting himself fired.
It remains to be seen whether Mr. Kennedy will end up making his way back to WWE somewhere down the line, as fans feel he more than deserves another run in the company after 16 long years.
