After WWE acquired the Mexican wrestling company AAA, fans quickly started wondering if Alberto Del Rio might come back to WWE. While there’s no sign that will happen, Mr. Iguana has now addressed Del Rio potentially returning to WWE.

While speaking to Bill Apter, Mr. Iguana was asked whether fans might see Alberto Del Rio back in WWE again, especially now that AAA and WWE have a strong working relationship.

Mr. Iguana admitted that he really doesn’t know. He pointed out that Alberto Del Rio was in WWE before, recalling how he himself wrestled John Cena while Del Rio faced Randy Orton.

As for Del Rio’s current status, Iguana explained that in Mexico, particularly in AAA, Alberto is drawing huge reactions from the crowd. Originally a major heel, he’s now getting cheered and turning into a big babyface, which shows how unpredictable Lucha Libre can be.

Iguana added that this is the magic of Lucha Libre since you can’t control the crowd because they decide what they want to see. As much as fans might love a wrestler one day, things can change, and sometimes a new face like him gets a huge reaction. That’s when promoters start to notice and realize a wrestler is making a big impression.

“I really don’t know. I mean, he was in WWE before — I remember I wrestled John Cena, he wrestled Randy Orton. So, I don’t, I really don’t know what’s the status of him. I just know in Mexico right now, in Triple A, Alberto is — I’m like, you can hear the crowd getting crazy for him and he’s like a big heel. And right now, I don’t know, Lucha Libre is so mysterious that from being the big heel, now people is cheering for him, he’s becoming a big baby face — big baby face.

Yeah, so this is the magic of Lucha, you don’t know, you can’t control the crowd, because the crowd is the one that’s telling you what they want to see. Yes. So, as much as they love a wrestler, one day they go down, and so maybe one day they see me, like me for the first time, and they get big. That’s where the promoters and all the stuff gotta see — hey, this guy is making a big impression.”

This comes after we have previously reported that WWE has no plans to bring back Alberto Del Rio and that this stance is consistent across all departments within WWE. Del Rio has not been contacted and is not being considered for any future creative or talent-related plans. Therefore, fans will just have to accept Del Rio might never return, especially since even Mr. Iguana doesn’t know if that will happen now.

Would you like to see Alberto Del Rio make a WWE return, or do you feel his best place is staying in AAA? Sound off in the comments.
