Moose is taking time away from the ring—and it turns out there’s a physical reason behind his absence. After losing the TNA X-Division Championship to Leon Slater at Slammiversary 2025, the former champion revealed he’s stepping back to regroup. Now, we’ve got a better idea of what’s going on.

Fightful Select reports that Moose was “very banged up” following the match, with the apron bump during the bout causing damage to both his hip and back. While the report didn’t cite any specific injury, the accumulated wear and tear appears to have led to his decision to rest and recover.

After the pay-per-view, Moose addressed fans on Instagram, acknowledging Slater’s performance and reflecting on his run in TNA. He wrote that he’s “accomplished almost everything here at TNA Wrestling” and praised Slater for carrying the division forward. Moose added that it’s time for him to “take a step back… get healthy and see what’s next,” but assured fans he’ll “be back soon.”

Moose has been a key figure in TNA’s modern era, capturing both World and X-Division gold and leading The System faction. His temporary departure leaves questions about the group’s future—and what’s next when Moose finally returns to action.
