MJF’s the flag bearer for AEW and there’s no chance he will sit by and let people criticize the company. That’s exactly why he has now shut down a claim that AEW as a product “is lost.”
Bully Ray took to Twitter and said AEW as a product is lost. He admitted AEW has talented wrestlers but thinks the promotion has no clear direction. He also said AEW is run by a rich fan, and while Tony Khan is a nice guy with good intentions, he doesn’t see him as a real booker. Bully added that the wrestlers in AEW know this as well.
“Unfortunate, but… AEW, as a product, is lost. There’s certainly some bright spots (talent) – but as a company, lacks definitive direction. Is what it is. A company owned and operated by a fan with lots of $$ TK – Good guy, good heart, not a booker And “the boys” know it.”
MJF took to Twitter and said fans shouldn’t take Bully Ray’s criticism seriously. He compared it to former NBA player Anthony Bennett or former MLB player John Gochnaur running podcasts criticizing athletes, saying no one would listen to them. He urged wrestling fans to stop being dumb and not give importance to those kinds of opinions.
“Imagine if Anthony Bennett did a podcast criticizing the NBA and its players. Imagine if John Gochnaur did a podcast criticizing the MLB and its players. Would you take their opinions into account? Wrestling fans. I urge you, I know it’s hard for ya. stop being dumb. Thx.”
Bully Ray’s comments about AEW started a lot of debate, but MJF has made it clear he’s standing up for the company. With AEW getting ready for big events and growing around the world, it’s clear many people won’t really agree with Bully Ray’s criticism in the end.
