AEW star MJF isn’t treating his role in Happy Gilmore 2 as a one-time cameo—he’s going all in on Hollywood.
While promoting the hit Netflix sequel, MJF spoke with TMZ Sports and revealed that acting has become more than just a side gig. After working alongside Adam Sandler and making headlines for his chaotic brawl with Eminem in the film, the former AEW World Champion confirmed he’s now actively pursuing more acting opportunities.
The moment came when the interviewer asked if fans could expect to see him in more projects going forward. MJF didn’t hesitate.
“Absolutely. I, uh… I’m taking acting just as seriously as I do professional wrestling, and I’m very excited about it.”
Before that, MJF had described how much working with Sandler meant to him, calling it a dream come true.
“It was so special. Happy Gilmore meant so much to me growing up… Sandler is like a father to me.”
MJF’s role as Happy’s son wasn’t even the part he initially auditioned for. In a separate interview with Screen Crush, he explained he originally read for a minor role tied to Benny Safdie’s “Maxi Golf” subplot.
“One of the Maxi golfers,” he said. “[In the film, Benny Safdie’s character creates a rival golf league from the main pro tour called Maxi Golf.]”
But casting pivoted, and MJF ended up with a key part in the movie—including that wild scene where he traded punches with Eminem. Backstage in AEW, sources say he was praised for managing his wrestling and filming schedules with zero disruption to his commitments.
With Happy Gilmore 2 trending across Netflix and MJF’s star rising in Hollywood, it looks like the Salt of the Earth is aiming for dual domination.
