MJF isn’t entertaining any talk about losing, and he made that crystal clear while discussing his upcoming Texas Death Match against Hangman Adam Page.
While speaking to KROQ to promote the match, the AEW World Champion was asked what he would say to fans who believe he could lose. Instead of downplaying the possibility, MJF doubled down on his trademark confidence and delivered a message aimed directly at critics and supporters of Hangman Page. He made it clear that he sees himself operating on a completely different level than his opponent, while also pointing to the massive consequences tied to the match stipulation.
“I'd say that those people are dumb and ignorant. And uh if those people are tuning in right now, I'm going to explain to them why they are dumb and ignorant. Hangman Adam Page, I'm sure he's a great guy. You know, a lot of people like Hangman Adam Page. He does the whole cowboy thing. It's cute. It's sweet, right? But I'm MJF. I'm gonna go down as one of the greatest to have ever laced up a pair of boots. We're having a Texas death match. And the cool thing is if Hangman Adam Page loses, he can never challenge for my AEW World title ever again. The stakes are very high for the Cowboy, which is why the fans of his, they're panicking.”
MJF’s words fall right in line with the persona he’s built throughout his AEW run. Confidence — or arrogance, depending on who you ask — has always been a core part of his character, and he continues to frame himself as a once-in-a-generation talent destined for history books.
With the Texas Death Match looming, the pressure now shifts to whether MJF can actually deliver on the bold claims he continues to make.
