MJF is known for being one of the best talkers and biggest stars in wrestling today—but don’t mistake that for love of the grind.

During a brutally honest appearance on The Masked Man Show, the AEW star revealed he actually hates professional wrestling. Yes, the guy who went 60 minutes with Bryan Danielson and 59:59 with Will Ospreay says he’d rather wrestle for five seconds if it were up to him.

While responding to a question about balancing fan expectations for long, high-quality matches and his character’s disdain for “indie mark culture,” MJF launched into a rant that stripped back the curtain.

“So here’s my answer to that: I hate wrestling. Wrestling’s my least favorite part of professional wrestling.”

He doubled down by saying the only reason he’s even doing these epic matches is because his opponents—like Bryan Danielson or Will Ospreay—force his hand.

“I just so happen to be the best at it. And it’s not my fault God made me this way. He made me better. And when I’m put in a certain situation and a talent is good enough… Look, if it were up to me, every match I was in would be, you know, four or five seconds long. Unfortunately, some guys are just more talented than others, right?”

Taking shots at Danielson, he slammed the former WWE star as “overrated” and mocked the need for a full hour-long Iron Man match.

“Then there’s situations where I have no choice but to go long — like that schmuck Bryan Danielson who, let’s be honest, very overrated. I think we can all agree on that. Shoemaker, will you agree with me on that?”

After Shoemaker reluctantly agreed, MJF didn’t hold back.

“Great. Great. Highly overrated. Wasn’t ever really all that good “So, he wants an Iron Man match. So in a scenario like that, I have no choice but to wrestle for an hour. That’s not something I wanted to do.I didn’t want to wrestle for 59 minutes and 59 seconds with Will Ospreay. Now, did I beat both of the men I just mentioned? Of course I did, because I’m the best.”

For MJF, it’s never about fan service—it’s about winning and dominating the business side of things.

“But I’m not doing that because I want to make marks on Twitter feel all warm and fuzzy inside about my quote-unquote work rate. I could give a shit. What I’m doing is trying to win at all times. If people want to discuss wrestling as an art form, that’s cute, I guess. Like, for me, professional wrestling is a business. And it’s a business that I just so happen to be very good at. The business is booming.”

MJF might hate wrestling—but the guy’s still racking up wins, stealing headlines, and cashing bigger checks than just about anyone else in the game. Whether he’s going 60 minutes or talking trash for five, he’s proving that love for the business isn’t a requirement for dominating it.

Do you think MJF’s honesty helps or hurts his legacy as a performer? Or is he just saying what a lot of wrestlers secretly feel? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
