Maxwell Jacob Friedman may be known for running his mouth in AEW, but now he’s making noise in Hollywood—thanks to none other than Adam Sandler. MJF landed his biggest movie role yet, starring in Happy Gilmore 2 as one of Sandler’s four sons, and according to him, the bond they formed went far beyond the script.

In an interview with Fightful, MJF opened up about how close he’s become with Sandler during and after filming the comedy sequel.

“I FaceTimed with him literally a week ago,” Friedman said. “He’s basically my dad. It’s pretty wild, and he’s the nicest guy I’ll ever meet in the world.”

When asked how the gig even came together, Friedman said it wasn’t through any wrestling connections—it was all hustle.

“I got the audition to play one of the evil golfers. And I filmed for the part and my audition fell on Sandler’s lap.”

And that’s when things took an unexpected turn. Sandler wasn’t just impressed—he was blown away.

“This is what he told me after the fact: he watched it and went, ‘Holy sh*t, this kid’s f*cking hilarious.’ And then somebody on his team smartened him up that I’m me and he was like, ‘Oh, well, let’s try him out to be one of my sons.’”

Friedman said he then went through a second round of auditions, this time for the role of Sandler’s son—and landed it.

“So that’s what happened. He thought I was entertaining and then later found out that I’m one of the biggest names in the entire industry.”

Between his rising wrestling superstardom and now an acting career with a direct line to Sandler himself, MJF’s ego may have just gotten another gold-plated reason to stay sky-high.
