Maxwell Jacob Friedman is rarely shy about his opinions, and that didn’t change when the conversation briefly shifted away from wrestling and into football.
During an interview with Compas on the Beat, the AEW World Champion was asked for his thoughts on the Super Bowl matchup, and he gave a clear answer—after a little sarcasm.
The question came late in the interview, long after MJF had already gone on extended rants about opponents, championships, and his place at the top of AEW. When the interviewer casually brought up the Super Bowl, MJF first made sure everyone knew he was fully aware of the moment and the stakes. He then immediately leaned into his trademark tone before giving an actual prediction.
“Oh, I’ve never heard of it. No, I’m just kidding.”
MJF stopped playing around and revealed his pick, siding with New England Patriots over the Seattle Seahawks.
“I’m going to say the Patriots.”
Rather than leaving it at that, MJF explained why he believes New England will come out on top, pointing directly to the franchise’s post–Tom Brady transition and how it handled uncertainty.
“I think it’s really cool. You know, the franchise was very scared when Tom Brady left, and to see such a real-deal quarterback in such a peak franchise…”
“As a Giants fan, I want to hate and I want to be like, ‘Screw the Patriots, let’s go Seahawks,’ but I think the Pats take this game. I really do.”
Whether the Patriots prove him right or the Seahawks spoil his prediction, MJF made it clear where he stands heading into the Super Bowl.
