MJF is building a Hollywood resume that’s starting to rival his AEW accolades—and now he’s teasing an unannounced movie project that could be his biggest leap yet.
On the July 8 bonus episode of The Masked Man Show, MJF opened up about his growing acting career, which includes a lead role in Happy Gilmore 2 and a secret new film with some major names attached. The AEW star revealed just enough to keep fans guessing about what’s next.
“You know, there was a movie that I filmed recently and it was me, Ron Perlman, Justin Long… I don’t want to say the name—I don’t know if the name’s been revealed yet—but it’s, I believe, still in production. And I think that movie is going to be an absolute hit as well. It was a lot of fun, and I had a great time on that set.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumblings about MJF’s expanding filmography. As Ringside News reported back in October 2024, MJF had wrapped filming on Happy Gilmore 2 in late September. In that project, he plays one of Happy’s sons alongside returning stars Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald. The Netflix sequel is expected to feature a blend of classic Sandler absurdity and MJF’s unmistakable presence. MJF touched on what working with Sandler meant to him as a kid from the Northeast who idolized SNL icons:
“I mean—a legend. And not just a legend, but also such an incredibly nice, down-to-earth guy. I cannot say enough nice things about him. I can’t say enough nice things about Happy Madison production as a whole.”
“It was an honor to play his son, and it was an honor to be in part of what is going to go down as one of the biggest comedies of all time.”
His breakout in The Iron Claw already drew strong reviews, now this unnamed Ron Perlman project show that MJF is serious about becoming a multi-platform star.
MJF isn’t just dipping his toe into Hollywood—he’s diving in headfirst, and he’s bringing the same arrogance and charisma that made him AEW’s top star. With heavyweight names like Adam Sandler, Ron Perlman, and Justin Long in his corner, it’s clear MJF isn’t playing small ball anymore. Whether this is the beginning of his full-blown Hollywood takeover or just a side hustle between title runs, one thing’s for sure—Maxwell Jacob Friedman doesn’t do anything halfway.
Is MJF slowly stepping away from wrestling to conquer film full-time? Or is this just another step in juggling both worlds like a pro? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
