MJF just confirmed what fans have long suspected: WWE didn’t just flirt with the idea of signing him during the “bidding war of 2024”—they’re still keeping tabs on him.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on February 11, 2026, the AEW World Champion confirmed that WWE did reach out during his “bidding war of 2024” era—and that the interest hasn’t gone away.

“There was a lot. I had some nice calls with some people who are high up in the chain,” MJF said, speaking candidly about the talks. “They were interested in me, and they are still very much interested in me—and I understand why.”

While MJF ultimately re-signed with AEW in 2024—ending months of silence and speculation—this marks the first time he’s publicly acknowledged just how real WWE’s pursuit was, especially since he claims WWE is still interested in him now.

“I know I would have been successful if I went over there to WWE,” he added. “That’s why they’re still interested in me.”

Now locked in with AEW, MJF continues to be one of the company’s biggest stars as the World Champion. But after this interview, the door to WWE doesn’t seem permanently closed.

Do you think MJF will eventually make the jump to WWE—or is he AEW for life? Let us know where you stand.
