AEW World Champion MJF isn’t just watching the AEW locker room—he’s got his eye on TNA Wrestling, too.
Fresh off his appearance on the January 21st episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF made a surprise call-in to Busted Open Radio, where he quickly took over the airwaves to trash the hosts, hype himself up, and—most notably—throw down a challenge to TNA star Nic Nemeth. In classic MJF fashion, he didn’t pull punches.
“Yeah, shut your mouth. If I have to listen to you two dorks talk about music for one more second, when the only thing you should be discussing is my greatness, I’m gonna put a gun in my mouth.”
After tearing into the hosts for straying off-topic, he reminded everyone who the real headline act is:
“If you watched AEW last night, you realize the tale of the tape is this: I’m the greatest wrestler on God’s green earth. I have the championship that everybody wants. Samoa Joe wants it, Hangman wants it, Swerve wants it, Brody King wants it, the list goes on — ya mama wants it, everybody wants it.”
And then came the shot heard across promotions:
“(Nic) Nemeth, whenever you find your balls, let me know. I’d love to wrestle you for the title as well. Good day, sir.”
Nic Nemeth, the current TNA star and former WWE standout, didn’t back down. While his focus is on the TNA World Championship, he didn’t rule out stepping into the AEW spotlight.
“Wow, what a call. I was just offered an AEW Title shot… I’m really focused, surprisingly, on the TNA World Title tonight possibly even but wow, AEW Champion… he’s thinking about me. I’m on board. I like that. I always wondered if he could hang in the ring. We’ll find out one day I guess.”
This surprise exchange adds another wrinkle to MJF’s growing list of potential challengers, which already includes Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, Swerve Strickland, and Brody King. Whether this is a one-off jab or the start of an inter-promotional showdown, one thing’s clear: MJF doesn’t care what logo you work under—if you’re good, you’re a target.
Could we be on the verge of a forbidden door moment between AEW and TNA? Or is MJF just stirring the pot for sport?
