AEW’s newest signing Ace Austin might have impressed fans with his debut, but MJF isn’t exactly lining up to sing his praises.

Austin made his AEW debut on the August 14 episode of Collision, taking on Ricochet in a bout that drew plenty of attention. Shortly after the match, it was confirmed that the former TNA X-Division Champion is officially All Elite.

During an interview with VICE, MJF was asked to weigh in on the company’s latest acquisition. While acknowledging Austin’s talent, the former AEW World Champion didn’t hold back on his personal take.

“Here’s the deal. We have a lot of cutesy guys that wear trunks and do flips.” He added, “I don’t really concern myself with Ace Austin. I’ve heard he’s talented. He’s just not my cup of tea.”

MJF has his eyes locked on gold once again. He’s set to challenge Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door on August 24 in London. While MJF originally earned his title shot through the Casino Gauntlet at All In Texas, this upcoming clash will now be a standard title match—not a contract cash-in. And in a major twist, disqualifications or count-outs can now result in a title change.

With MJF focused on reclaiming the top spot, don’t expect him to be scouting Ace Austin anytime soon.

Do you think MJF is underestimating Ace Austin, or is he calling it exactly how he sees it? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
