MJF is tired of the fake love—and he’s calling out the fans who flipped on him the second he didn’t sign with WWE.

In a February 11, 2026 interview with Chris Van Vliet, the AEW World Champion talked about the fan backlash that followed his decision to re-sign with AEW in 2024 instead of jumping to WWE. MJF’s message? He sees through the bitterness—and he’s not impressed.

“I also still see WWE fans—the same fans in 2023 who were like, ‘He’s gonna jump, he’s gonna be huge, and I can’t wait.’ And when I stayed here, they were like, ‘We didn’t want him anyway, I don’t even like MJF.’ It’s cute. I get it. It’s like you ask the hottest girl out at prom and she denies you, and you get mad about it.”

This echoes a March 2025 Sports Illustrated interview, where MJF tore into wrestlers who don’t watch AEW. He argued that ignoring what’s happening in the industry is either dishonest or lazy.

“If you are in the world of professional wrestling, if you are a top guy, and you don't watch or consume as much professional wrestling as possible, can you call yourself a student of the game? Can you say you're putting your best foot forward? Can you claim to be one of the best in the sport? In my opinion, no, you absolutely cannot.”

He took it a step further by accusing some WWE talent of pretending they don’t follow AEW when they actually do. And when it comes to big AEW shows like Revolution, MJF is convinced even WWE locker rooms are watching.

“So if you were to ask a WWE star, ‘Have you been watching AEW?’ and they say no, one of two things is happening. One: they are lying through their f**king teeth. Or two: they don't care enough about this industry to study what's going on in it. I can assure you there will be plenty of WWE wrestlers watching Revolution because if you are a real professional wrestler—scratch that, if you're a real athlete—and you aren't in the loop or aware of what's happening in your sport, I pity you. I think you just do not take your job seriously, and I take umbrage with that.”

Whether it’s fans playing revisionist history or wrestlers claiming ignorance, MJF is done playing nice. The “Salt of the Earth” made his choice—and he’s still watching who’s watching him.
