Seth Rollins faked his knee injury as he pulled off the “Ruse of the Century” at SummerSlam by winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title. However, The Miz wasn’t happy about what he did as he ended up mocking Rollins by faking his own injury recently.
While speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, The Miz began by pretending he had suffered a knee injury by walking on crutches, claiming that during a pre-tape segment on the previous Friday’s SmackDown, he heard a pop in his knee. He said it turned out to be broken, that he went to Birmingham for evaluation, and was told he would be out of WWE for a significant amount of time.
The Miz described it as something that had to be dealt with day by day, but added that he was already thinking about how he could fake an injury, appear on the Rich Eisen Show to gain sympathy, and then return a month later to shock everyone by becoming World Champion.
“You saw me hobble in here and I have some unfortunate news. Last Friday on SmackDown I was in a pretape, I heard a pop in my knee and it ended up being broken. I went to Birmingham and said I have a broken knee, and unfortunately I’m going to be out of WWE for a significant amount of time.
How am I feeling? It’s something you have to deal with, take it day by day. I’m already trying to get myself hopefully in a position where I can fake an injury and come on to the Rich Eisen Show and make everyone feel heartfelt for me, and then go on a month later to bamboozle everyone and become a World Champion!”
The A-Lister then talked about Seth Rollins, accusing him of faking his own knee injury. The Miz said that if he did the same thing, he could be champion in a month, and wondered why more wrestlers didn’t try it.
Miz remembered texting Rollins after seeing him get hurt, thinking it was real, and recalling when Rollins got injured in a match with Kane and missed a year. Miz said he was almost in tears, wished Rollins a speedy recovery, and got a heart emoji back.
Miz explained that if he ever really got injured, which he says has never happened, he wouldn’t want to talk about it either. That’s why he believed Rollins was telling the truth. He joked that hosting the Rich Eisen Show might bring him luck, and if faking an injury could suddenly lead to winning a title, he would be happy to do it.
“So maybe if I fake an injury coming in here, then maybe in a month I will be World Champion. And you know what? Why doesn’t everyone do it? By the way, when Seth Rollins did that, I texted him. I saw what happened to him, it reminded me of when he was in the ring with Kane and he was out for a year. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, my buddy, my friend, he’s out for a significant amount of time.’ I was almost in tears looking at him. I texted him, I said, ‘Hey man, you’re in my prayers, hoping for a speedy recovery,’ he sent me a heart.
If I ever got injured — which I don’t — I wouldn’t want to talk about it either. So I believed everything he was doing. I believed this man was injured. So I said, ‘You know what? I’m hosting the Rich Eisen Show and maybe put some juju into me winning a World Title, then I’m gonna do it.’ If it hits a place where you fake an injury and all of a sudden, poof, you win it, then I’m in for it.”
This comes after we had previously reported that several talent and WWE staff were upset over Seth Rollins’ injury ruse. Regardless, it was clear The Miz had a blast mocking Seth Rollins and that’s all that mattered to him in the end.
