The Miz isn’t holding onto old grudges—and he doesn’t think CM Punk is, either. While the two once had one of the most bitter real-life rivalries in WWE, Miz is now making it clear that CM Punk has changed, and not in a small way.

During an interview on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, The Miz opened up about his recent backstage encounter with Punk. This wasn’t about rehashing drama or clearing the air—what really shocked The Miz was how different Punk felt compared to the man he used to know.

“Now I see him backstage and it’s just a different person than I remember. He seems very happy. And I wouldn’t even say complacent, because he’s always competitive and always wants to be number one, but also is in a position where he’s teaching a lot.”

It’s not just that Punk was more relaxed—The Miz saw real growth in someone who used to carry a chip on his shoulder the size of the wrestling industry.

“There’s not many of us that have been here for 20 years and have been able to teach and learn and adapt. So it’s cool to see the change and the happiness, right? Because you want happiness for everyone. And growth. And all that’s great.”

Considering their volatile past, the idea of The Miz speaking so positively about Punk would’ve been unthinkable just a few years ago. But this wasn’t a forced media moment or PR stunt—it was Miz reacting in real time to a guy who clearly seems to have turned a corner.

The Second City Saint has always been one of wrestling’s most controversial names, but if The Miz—of all people—can sense a shift, maybe this is truly a different era for CM Punk.
