Mina Shirakawa may be out of action following AEW All In—but whether her injury is legit or part of a storyline is still unclear.
During the July 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Schiavone announced that Shirakawa suffered a broken hand during the women’s casino gauntlet match. The damage reportedly came after Athena nailed her with the O-Face and scored the pinfall to earn a future AEW Women’s Title opportunity.
The timing has raised eyebrows. Athena referenced Mina’s absence later in the show, casually stating during a backstage promo that both Luther and Mina were “out of the way” while AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm watched from the balcony. Whether that was meant as storyline trash talk or a nod to something real is anyone’s guess right now.
Shirakawa recently won the Interim ROH Women’s Television Championship at ROH Supercard of Honor in a four-way match against Miyu Yamashita, Persephone, and Yuka Sakazaki. That title was introduced after Red Velvet was sidelined with an injury—now, Shirakawa could be facing the same fate.
AEW has yet to release further details, and without confirmation from Shirakawa herself, speculation continues about whether this is an angle or an actual injury. Either way, her momentum is temporarily on hold.
