Mick Foley isn’t backing down—but he admits his stance against WWE’s relationship with Donald Trump has come at a personal cost.
In a new interview with Orlando Weekly, the WWE Hall of Famer opened up about the fan fallout since he publicly ended his relationship with WWE in protest of its ties to the former president.
“People know that I’m not on board with a lot of things the current administration is doing. I have fans who feel different, and still like and support me. And I have [fans] who dropped out of the fandom, which is obviously their right.”
Foley’s comments follow his explosive statement in December 2025, where he slammed Trump’s reaction to the tragic murder of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele—a move that Foley said pushed him to cut ties with WWE entirely. In a brutal Truth Social post, Trump mocked Reiner’s death, linking it to “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and offering a bizarre eulogy that infuriated many in Hollywood and beyond.
“Rob Reiner… reportedly [died] due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME… May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
The backlash was immediate. Music legend Jack White went off, calling Trump a “disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child,” and Foley didn’t hesitate to echo White’s sentiments—reposting the statement and adding his own swipe at WWE.
“What @officialjackwhite said here is spot on. How any of my @wwe colleagues can stand by — let alone stand next to — this man is beyond me.”
Just a day later, Foley took the next step—announcing that he had informed WWE talent relations that he wouldn’t be making any appearances while Trump remains in office. He also confirmed that when his WWE Legends contract expires in June 2026, he will not renew it.
“Reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me. I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy.”
“I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me.”
The Hardcore Legend is making it clear that he’s prepared to deal with the consequences—including the loss of fans—if it means standing by his values. Love him or hate him, Mick Foley has always been real. And in a divided time, that may be more powerful than ever.
