Mick Foley just dropped a major update on his long-rumored biopic—and he’s got two potential stars in mind to bring him to life on screen.
During an interview on Casual Conversations with The Classic, the hardcore legend revealed that a TV series based on his life has been in development for over two years, and the casting conversations are already serious.
“There’s actually something in the works for a couple of years, I think. Well over two years. It may have been three years ago I first met with these people. And we’ve talked to four showrunners. I think we settled on one.”
Foley confirmed that actor and current indie wrestling regular Paul Walter Hauser has expressed strong interest in playing him. While Foley joked about the height difference, he believes Hauser can nail the soul of the character—even if it’s not a perfect physical match.
“Paul Walter Hauser’s shown some interest in portraying me. Now Paul’s legit about six inches shorter than I am. But I’m about five inches taller than most people think I am… Hauser, I think he could do a unique take on it—not an imitation, but I think he could find the spirit of that 1995 Cactus Jack.”
Another name Foley mentioned is deathmatch wrestler Casanova Valentine. Not only does he have the look and personality, but Foley pointed out that Valentine has real stunt experience and has been training in acting.
“I also am really high on deathmatch wrestler Casanova Valentine, who not only looks like me, but he’s got a similar personality, too… He’s a stunt man. He could do his own stunts. He’s been taking acting lessons. He’s got a real kind aura despite being a menacing figure.”
Foley shared a behind-the-scenes moment that sealed Valentine as a serious contender. The deathmatch star once flew to Nashville to film a Santa-themed video as Foley’s body double—painting a wooden choo-choo train in a full Santa suit. The gig may have lacked barbed wire and thumbtacks, but Foley said it paid off in a different way.
“Here’s a guy who goes through barbed wire and light tubes… and he makes his biggest payoff painting a choo-choo train in the Foley house.”
As for the biopic’s direction, Foley made it clear the show won’t just be about barbed wire and broken tables—it’s about the emotion and humanity behind the madness.
“In order to be successful, you have to draw in non-wrestling fans with the human drama of it. It’s a delicate line because it was a really physically destructive time in my career—but it was also really intriguing and surreal.”
With names like Hauser and Valentine in the mix, it’s clear Foley’s story is closer than ever to being told on screen—and if done right, it could resonate far beyond the wrestling world.
