Michael Cole has experienced many unique moments throughout his long career in WWE. Last year he confirmed that he signed a new long-term deal with the company, ensuring he would stick with WWE for more years to come and now Cole has revealed why he decided to re-sign with the company in the first place.

While speaking to Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast, Michael Cole revealed that he had a long conversation with his wife before deciding to sign a new contract with WWE. He confirmed that the deal would keep him with the company for several more years.

Cole admitted that for the first time WWE truly made him feel important, even after 28 years with the company. While the paycheck played a role in his decision, he credited the new regime for influencing his choice in a big way.

“I had a very long conversation with my wife before signing a brand-new contract with the company, so I’m going to be here for a number of years. Yeah, and I mean, the company really made me feel, for the first time, that I was truly important to this place. Yeah, after 28 years. The paycheck is part of it, but the new regime had a lot to do with it.”

Before signing, Cole reflected on his future as he noted that he is now 58 years old and WWE wants to keep him until retirement. He and his wife had talked about him stepping away due to the demanding travel schedule, but she ultimately encouraged him to continue.

Cole’s wife believed it was his legacy and that he would regret not finishing his career on his own terms. With her full support, Cole committed to staying with WWE for the foreseeable future.

“When I went to sign the new deal, I sat down with my wife. I’m 58 years old now, and I realized they want to keep me until retirement age. We had talked for a long time about me stepping away because of the travel and everything else.

But she told me, ‘You’ve got to do it. This is your legacy. You’re going to be miserable if you don’t finish this the way you want to.’ She was great about it, completely on board, and so I’m here for a while.”

Michael Cole is ready to finish his career on his own terms. As one of the most respected voices in the world of professional wrestling, he will be an asset to WWE’s storytelling and broadcast team for years to come. After all, the company clearly trusts him in a huge way and he is truly irreplaceable now.
