Corey Graves’ future in WWE was a major topic of discussion last month after he publicly vented his frustration about being moved to NXT commentary in now-deleted tweets. While things are better now since Graves is a regular on NXT television, Michael Cole has now addressed the drama surrounding Corey Graves.
While speaking to Logan Paul on the Impaulsive podcast, Michael Cole addressed the situation with Corey Graves after Graves expressed frustration with WWE following his move from the main roster commentary team to NXT.
Cole admitted that he still doesn’t fully understand all the dynamics of what happened. He acknowledged that Graves posted something on social media that was critical of the company. According to Cole, Graves tried to explain that he was attempting to generate interest in a potential storyline, but WWE didn’t see it that way.
Cole clarified that the situation was not a work but a shoot. However, he believes that Graves and WWE are working things out. Despite the controversy, Cole expressed his admiration for Graves, calling him an unbelievable commentator. He also stated that, aside from Pat McAfee, Graves is probably the best commentary partner he has ever had.
“I love Corey. I still don’t understand all the dynamics of it. I know that he sent something out on social media that was pretty critical of the company. He tried to explain to everyone that he was trying to generate some interest in maybe a type of storyline.
I don’t think the company saw it that way. It was not a work, right? It was a shoot—yes, allegedly, allegedly. But again, I think he and the company are working that out.
I love Corey to death. He’s an unbelievable commentator. Beside McAfee, he’s probably the best partner I’ve ever had.”
Despite being a regular part of NXT commentary now following a brief period of absence, Corey Graves still catches heat after he vented about the company. Corey Graves is doing well as an NXT commentator, but people still talk about his past issues with WWE. It’s unclear if he will return to the main roster commentary team but fans are glad to know that Graves and WWE are working things out now.
