Mercedes Moné’s current run as a belt collector has seen her win 8 belts and it’s clear she’s on the hunt for more. However, having so many belts actually makes it pretty hard for her to go through TSA and she’s now revealed her struggles about the same.
While speaking on the Marking Out podcast, Dwayne Swayze held some of Mercedes Moné’s titles and commented on how heavy they felt, saying, “Man, I can’t even call it. This has got to be like 40, 50 pounds here.”
The CEO of AEW then explained that she carries the titles in her carry-on bag every week when she travels. Each time TSA stops her, removes the titles and scans them again before she can board the plane.
Moné said that sometimes, especially during early morning flights, lifting 60 to 70 pounds into the overhead bin is exhausting. Moné admitted that while she doesn’t want anyone to hurt themselves helping her, she often needs the help.
“This is what I have to carry in my carry-on every single week when I travel. I go through TSA and get pulled to the side every single time. They have to pull out the titles, run them through the scanner again, and then I have to get on the plane and try my best.
Sometimes it’s 5 in the morning, and I don’t have the energy to lift 60 to 70 pounds into the overhead. I’m like, I don’t want you to hurt your arm, but yes, I do need some help.”
It’s clear that being the CEO of AEW and holding so many championship belts isn’t easy for her at all, but Mercedes Moné is more than ready to handle the burden every week. Even then, we’ll have to see if she will decide to at least check in some of her belts soon.
What do you think? Should Mercedes Moné keep traveling with all her titles for the fans, or should she lighten her load and check some in? Sound off in the comments.
