Mercedes Moné is finally responding to the backlash surrounding her $99.99-per-month texting service—and she’s doing it without saying a word.
The AEW TBS Champion has been under fire since launching a private messaging platform via her official website, offering fans “exclusive, one-on-one, personal, and private” access. The deal includes a number said to be “reserved only for her biggest supporters.” But fans immediately torched the concept online, calling it a cash grab and accusing Moné of using a bot—or worse, someone else entirely—to run the account.
On May 5, 2025, Moné seemed to hit back at those accusations. She posted a photo of herself backstage, smiling while staring at her phone—subtle but pointed. The move came after days of criticism, with one X user posting, “Y’all do know that won’t be her texting lol. C’mon now.” Another wrote, “So many dummies gonna pay and think she herself is actually replying. Whole time it’s an AI bot, or some dude overseas.”
The hate didn’t stop there. “Just when you think she couldn’t get more annoying,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Absolutely fucking not,” when asked if they’d ever pay for the texting access.
Some fans mocked the idea entirely. One sarcastic post read, “If you believe that you’ll be talking to her, I’m an Indonesian prince that has a million dollars I want to give you… just drop your account and routing number below.”
Others took aim at her wrestling ability, calling her “overrated” and “mid card at best,” while one fan simply said, “She is awful on the mic.”
Despite the outrage, a few fans did defend Moné’s right to get her bag. One wrote, “All for her getting her bag but I hope she is doing this in the safest way possible, there’s a lot of weirdos in this world.” And even her critics admitted it was better than the alternative, with one person joking, “Love @MercedesVarnado but come on 😂🤣 but it’s better than OnlyFans.”
Whether the smirking phone photo was meant as confirmation that Moné is behind the texts—or just trolling—one thing’s for sure: she’s well aware of what’s being said. And she doesn’t seem bothered one bit.
