Mercedes Moné defended her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship against AZM and Mina Shirakawa at NJPW Resurgence but it didn’t go the way she had hoped, as AZM won the match. Following her shocking loss, the CEO of AEW had second thoughts about taking a photo with a fan.

As revealed by footage making rounds online, Mercedes Moné was just about to take a photo with a fan, when the fan said he hated to see her lose, saying, “Hate to see you lose.” This did not sit well with Mercedes Moné, who stated that she didn’t lose at all, as she said, “I didn’t lose” and she had second thoughts about taking a photo with the fan.

Mercedes Moné then asked other fans whether she got pinned, saying, “Did I get pinned?” The fans made it clear she didn’t get pinned since it was AZM pinned Shiarakwa for the win. It was clear Moné was very annoyed at the fan as she said, “Is it almost midnight because I want this day to be over.”

This comes after the triple threat match at NJPW Resurgence. In the final moments, Mina placed AZM on top of Moné and tried to use a figure-four leg lock, but both AZM and Moné reached the bottom rope to break the hold. After that, all three kept fighting and trying to pin each other. Eventually, Moné was knocked out of the ring, and AZM quickly rolled up Mina to get the win.

Mercedes Moné wasn’t the one who got pinned at NJPW Resurgence, but the match still seemed to affect her emotionally, especially with how people are reacting to it. Regardless, she still holds three championships, and we’ll have to wait and see if she can win another one in the future.

What do you think about Mercedes Moné’s reaction to the fan’s comment? Did she overreact, or was her frustration justified given the circumstances? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’d love to hear from you!
