Mercedes Moné is racking up titles across the globe, but according to Tony Khan, she isn’t cashing in—she’s doing it for the love of the game.

During a recent appearance on Z100 New York, the AEW President praised Moné’s global championship run, making it clear her motivation isn’t financial. Khan revealed that Mercedes doesn’t earn a dime from many of the appearances she’s been making in international promotions.

“Mercedes has taken on belts from all over the world — with all the commitments that Mercedes has taken on, it’s really impressive. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — that shows it’s not about pure greed and money for Mercedes, because a lot of these places she’s wrestling — Winnipeg, Canada, Denmark — they’re not the highest-paying places. She’s not really making money from these.”

Instead, Khan emphasized that Moné is deeply committed to the sport itself—mentoring young wrestlers, helping indie promotions grow, and elevating women’s wrestling wherever she goes.

“She loves wrestling — she loves building up companies, she loves meeting new young stars, and she really cares about the craft and the sport of wrestling.”

It’s a rare mindset in a business often driven by payouts and exposure. Moné’s decision to take less-than-lucrative bookings, like her recent appearance for Winnipeg Pro Wrestling, shows she’s focused on creating impact. That event even reported a ticket sales spike after her name was announced.

From holding her 12th championship to lifting the next generation, Mercedes Moné continues to prove why she’s one of the most respected figures in wrestling today.
