Mercedes Mone isn’t here for Dave Meltzer’s analysis, and she made that crystal clear with a blunt, two-word response.
The AEW TBS Champion is set to defend her title against Harley Cameron at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, and Meltzer had some strong opinions about the match. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, he suggested that Mone needs to elevate Cameron the way Ric Flair did for Sting back in the day.
“If Mercedes is the great worker that she often shows herself to be, she should take this as a challenge,” Meltzer said. “You wanna be Ric Flair? This is Ric Flair and Sting. That’s what it is. So go and make Sting.”
He then doubled down, saying Cameron has shown similar charisma to a young Sting, adding that Mone has the opportunity to “make” her opponent into a star.
Mone? She wasn’t feeling it. The former WWE Superstar fired back on Twitter/X with a short and savage response: “STFU.”
She didn’t stop there—Mone also dropped a GIF labeled ‘nerd alert’, making it very clear that she wasn’t interested in Meltzer’s comparison or his expectations.
With Grand Slam: Australia on the horizon, all eyes will be on Mone and Cameron’s match to see if the AEW Women’s division gets a defining moment. But if Mone’s response is anything to go by, she’s not stepping into the ring to play Ric Flair—she’s stepping in to prove she’s Mercedes Mone.
