Most WWE Superstars spend years preparing before stepping onto the main roster, but Maxxine Dupri’s journey didn’t follow that traditional path. Instead, she found herself thrown into the spotlight before she even felt ready.

During the same interview with Brad Gilmore, Maxxine opened up about how unusual her early career path was. She explained that when she was first called up from NXT, she wasn’t physically prepared and had never wrestled a match, making the transition far more stressful than most fans realize. When discussing those early days, she described the situation as survival mode rather than confidence or ambition.

“You know, I got called up very early. I was injured at the time. I wasn't trained. I had never had a match. So, truthfully, I was just charting water and I was like, let me just do my best to stay employed. Like, I just need to survive and then I'll see what happens next.”

Her admission offers a rare look behind the scenes at how unpredictable the path to WWE success can be. Instead of entering the main roster fully prepared, Maxxine had to learn while under pressure, adapting on the fly while dealing with injury and uncertainty.

That early struggle also explains why her later accomplishments, including winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, meant so much. What started as an effort just to stay employed eventually turned into a full-fledged championship journey — something she admitted even surprised her.

Do you think calling someone up before they’re fully trained helps them grow faster, or does it create unnecessary pressure that can hurt development? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let your voice be heard.
