WWE SmackDown brought the action to Austin, Texas, on January 24, but before Pretty Deadly hit the ring, cameras cut to a familiar face sitting at ringside—Matthew McConaughey.

The Academy Award-winning actor acknowledged the camera with a signature smirk and a quick hand gesture before shifting his focus back to the action. He looked like he was having a great time, blending right in with the electric crowd at the Moody Center.

McConaughey has never shied away from his love of professional wrestling. Whether it’s dropping references in interviews or making surprise appearances, he’s made it clear he’s a longtime fan. With WWE gearing up for the Royal Rumble just days away, it’s got people wondering if this was just a casual night out or if the Hollywood star might have something else in the works with WWE.

The night will also featured LA Knight taking on Tama Tonga, a match set up after The Bloodline cost Knight the United States Title earlier this month. The Motor City Machine Guns also clashed with Pretty Deadly after Elton Prince and Kit Wilson tried and failed to interfere in Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin’s match last week.

SmackDown delivered an action-packed night, but McConaughey’s ringside appearance was an unexpected treat for fans watching at home. With WWE always keeping surprises up their sleeve, it’ll be interesting to see if this was just a fun night out or if something more is brewing.

Do you think Matthew McConaughey could get involved with WWE in some way? Would you want to see him step inside a WWE ring? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
