Matt Taven’s time in AEW is officially over — and another promotion is already trying to bring him in.

Ringside News has confirmed that the National Wrestling Alliance has reached out to Taven and is actively pursuing a return. The former ROH World Champion quietly finished up with AEW when his contract expired, and now the NWA is looking to bring him in for its next big taping.

Sources close to the situation told Ringside News that “preliminary discussions” have already begun between Taven and the NWA. While no deal has been finalized, sources are confident Taven could appear at the company’s upcoming February 21 double TV tapings in Tampa.

This wouldn’t be Taven’s first time working with the NWA. He and longtime partner Mike Bennett previously competed for the promotion while holding the Impact World Tag Team Titles. They later walked away from both NWA and Impact to sign with AEW alongside Maria Kanellis. Now, with that AEW chapter officially closed, Taven’s next move might bring him full circle.

AEW never announced Taven’s exit. In fact, his departure was lumped in with Mercedes Martinez and Alex Abrahantes — two more names whose contracts simply expired without any public statement.
