Matt Riddle isn’t holding back when it comes to his future in wrestling—or how he sees himself in the industry.
Since his WWE release in September 2023, Riddle has been grinding nonstop, making waves in MLW, NJPW, and the independent scene. Now holding the MLW World Heavyweight Championship, he’s racking up matches across the globe, but that doesn’t mean he’s closed the door on a WWE return.
Speaking on Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw, Riddle made it clear he’d go back to WWE in a heartbeat if the opportunity came up. “I would love to go back to WWE one day eventually, maybe soon. But the thing is, whatever they want. It’s not up to me, that’s their decision. If it was up to me, I would have been there yesterday. I never would have left.”
Until that call comes, Riddle is staying busy. “Until then, I’m going to win every championship possible, I’m going to wrestle everywhere under the sun, in every country. Just in the next couple months, I’m gonna probably go to eight different countries, wrestle 20-30 different places, and do my thing.”
He also reflected on his place in wrestling, comparing himself to a cult classic—the kind of star who may not be for everyone, but has a dedicated following. “I’m not everybody’s taste, their cup of tea. But when I am, I’m definitely your cup of tea, you definitely want to see me. I’m like a B-rate horror movie people love, like ‘Evil Dead’ or ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer.’ I’m not mainstream all the time, but I touch mainstream, and I have a following that will follow me, probably for a long, long time.”
For now, Riddle is doing what he does best—keeping the grind alive and staying in motion. Whether he makes his way back to WWE or continues dominating across MLW and beyond, one thing’s for sure: love him or hate him, he’s not going anywhere. The Original Bro is still rolling, and if WWE ever picks up the phone, he’ll be ready.
