Matt Riddle’s transformation into the “Rude Dude” isn’t just a wrestling gimmick—it’s a whole vibe, and it turns out it’s rooted in years of mischievous behavior. While chatting with The Stunner on YouTube, Riddle was asked about his history with Mischief Night, the night before Halloween where kids traditionally engage in harmless trouble. His response took an unexpected turn when he revealed that growing up, they didn’t even call it that.

Before he ever stepped foot in a wrestling ring, Riddle was causing a little chaos around Saratoga Springs, New York. But instead of “Mischief Night,” he grew up calling it something else entirely.

“We didn’t call it Mischief Night… we called it—I don’t know why—we called it Cabbage Night.”

Riddle explained that his antics were mostly harmless and biodegradable. No spray paint or property damage—just good old-fashioned eggs and toilet paper.

“Usually, throw some eggs, some toilet paper… but, you know, it rains enough and windy enough where toilet paper really doesn’t stick around, you know. Biodegradable. Even the eggs—biodegradable. Good for the lawn maybe. Yeah, it all goes back into the earth.”

Despite his chaotic energy in the ring and persona as a “Rude Dude,” Riddle made it clear he always knew where to draw the line.

“Those are the kind of pranks I’m into. Like I like a good scare, like I’ll sneak up on somebody, or egg or toilet paper—but not paint, nothing like that. I don’t want to damage property or private property.”

And in true Riddle fashion, he sealed the segment with a quote that perfectly sums up who he is now, “I’m a rude dude, but I got common sense.”

Riddle continues to reinvent himself on the independent scene, but even when he’s reflecting on childhood mischief, it’s clear he hasn’t lost that chaotic charm. The ACW headliner knows how to walk the line between fun and reckless—and that balance might be what keeps fans coming back.
