Matt Riddle’s feud with CM Punk has gone from heated to downright personal—and now, it involves Punk’s wife, AJ Lee.
During his TMZ Inside The Ring appearance, Riddle was already firing shots at Punk, once again tearing into him as both a fighter and a personality. He flat-out challenged Punk to face him in any legitimate combat sport, saying he’d expose him easily.
“CM Punk’s a p**y. He can’t beat me in a fight. If he wants to step up, he can meet me in a bare knuckle boxing fight, in an MMA cage, whatever, dude.”
From there, the conversation shifted to Punk’s time backstage at NXT, where Riddle accused him of hanging around too much and acting more like a creep than a mentor. He specifically brought up Punk’s close relationship with younger stars like Cora Jade, dismissing WWE’s narrative that Punk has become a guiding figure for the next generation.
“I don’t… I think he’s fake and I think he’s a creep. I don’t know. I feel like he’s just lingering around the NXT locker room a little too much. There’s a lot of things about him… He has like Cora Jade as his daughter and everything. And everybody he kind of oversees.”
The hosts suggested Punk was serving as a mentor, to which Riddle shot back sarcastically:
“That’s one way of putting it.”
But things took another turn when one of the hosts brought up AJ Lee, asking Riddle how he felt about Punk’s wife potentially returning to wrestling circles. At first, Riddle seemed indifferent.
“Well, AJ, you know, I have no problems with her. She never stepped into it.”
Then he shifted tone, dropping a comment that instantly raised eyebrows.
“I mean, to be fair—and I’m not one to talk, I’m a little f**ed up myself—but she did go get around from what I heard. But no disrespect to that.”
Trying to downplay it, Riddle compared it to his own lifestyle and insisted it wasn’t meant as a direct insult.
“Hey, it’s whatever. People like to hook up. And if that’s the worst thing he did, whatever, dude. I’ve done it too.”
The sequence of comments painted Punk as fake, a creep in NXT, and now put AJ Lee under scrutiny with a jab at her personal life. Coming immediately after his latest challenge to Punk, it’s clear Riddle isn’t interested in keeping this feud professional—he’s making it personal.
By dragging AJ Lee into the feud, Riddle has taken his attacks on Punk beyond the usual locker room trash talk, and it raises questions about how far Punk will let this go before firing back.
Do you think Matt Riddle crossed the line by taking shots at AJ Lee, or is this just another layer of his feud with CM Punk? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
