Matt Hardy is the latest wrestler to have his social media hijacked by scammers—this time, it’s his Instagram account that’s under attack.
Hardy’s page began pushing a fake cryptocurrency promotion promising free “WLFI tokens” and other supposed perks. The posts included flashy graphics, emojis, and a link for users to “claim” the tokens—turning Hardy’s verified account into a scam platform overnight. The hacked post read:
“FREE WLFI TOKENS! 🎉
🚀 38M+ still available
💎 Earn up to 15% APY
🌐 WLFI DAO governance rights
🎨 Exclusive NFT drops
👉 Don’t miss this airdrop – claim yours today!”
The scam even tied the promotion to Trump’s WLFI tokens, making it clear the hacker was using Hardy’s account to push a cryptocurrency fraud.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Hardy has had to deal with hackers. Back in 2023, his Twitter account was compromised and disturbing tweets about Chris Benoit were posted without his consent.
Hardy’s situation is a reminder for fans to be careful online—even verified accounts can be compromised. Clicking on suspicious links or offers could lead to serious consequences. With wrestlers becoming frequent targets of social media hackers, staying skeptical of flashy promotions is more important than ever.
