Matt Hardy just dropped a big piece of WWE history—revealing why he wasn’t part of a past Hall of Fame offer that was made to his brother, Jeff Hardy.

Jeff previously told fans that he turned down a WWE Hall of Fame induction because he didn’t want to go in without his brother Matt. Now, thanks to Matt’s recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, we know why the joint induction was never offered. Matt didn’t sugarcoat it. He explained that WWE’s issue was simply his contract with AEW at the time.

“Because I went to AEW at the time.”

When Helwani pressed about whether the Hardy Boyz would eventually take their rightful spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, Matt didn’t hesitate.

“Yeah, yeah, we’ll definitely do it one day.”

It’s clear Matt Hardy believes the door isn’t closed forever—just that WWE didn’t want to pull the trigger while he was with the competition.

So what’s your take? Should WWE have offered both Hardys a spot regardless of Matt’s AEW deal? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
