WWE made big news last month when they acquired the Mexican wrestling company AAA and the promotion is getting ready for their big show Triplemanía Regia, on June 15. Reports noted that the Hardys were going to be on the show but that’s not happening anymore and now Matt Hardy has explained why that’s the case.

While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy explained that he and Jeff Hardy won’t be appearing at Triplemanía Regia despite earlier reports suggesting they would.

Hardy revealed that they were asked to participate, but they are already booked for those weekends and can’t make it. While they had to turn down the opportunity this time, he didn’t rule out a future appearance. Hardy also showed interest in competing for the AAA Tag Team titles, saying he would love to see him and Jeff win them someday.

“I know we were asked about that and, just uh, in full transparency—we’re booked already those weekends. So we were asked about doing them, but uh, we weren’t able to, obviously. But you know, maybe sometime down the road we will. Uh, we were asked about it, no doubt. I would love—I’m not going to lie—I would love for Matt and Jeff Hardy to pick up the Triple A Tag Team titles.”

This comes after Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “Joe Hendry and The Hardys will be part of Triplemanía Regia representing TNA.” Obviosuly tat’s not happening now but fans are hopeful for future appearances from the Hardys.

It was already confirmed that Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo will be appearing at Triplemanía Regia on June 15th, and on top of that, Joe Hendry, Moose and the Nemeths will be representing TNA Wrestling at the event. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait and see when the Hardys will compete at an AAA event in the future, as fans would love for that to happen.
