With the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble just days away, the rumor mill is heating up, and this time, Matt Cardona is at the center of it.

The self-proclaimed “Indie God” has never been shy about wanting a return to WWE, and now, whispers are circulating that he could be making an appearance in the 30-man Rumble match.

According to Fightful Select, there are rumblings—though unconfirmed—that Cardona is slated for a return at the event. While no one within WWE has officially confirmed anything, sources outside of the company are claiming that Cardona could be set for a big moment in Indianapolis.

“Regarding Cardona, there are at least people (outside of WWE) claiming that the plan is for an appearance. We have not confirmed that,” the outlet reported.

What is confirmed? Cardona will be in town during Rumble weekend. He’s booked for WrestleCon, rubbing elbows with legends like Mr. Kennedy, JBL, Rob Van Dam, and others. Between that and his recent matches for ROH, GCW, and TNA Wrestling, it’s clear Cardona is staying busy—but could WWE be his next stop?

If Cardona does step back into a WWE ring, it wouldn’t be his first Royal Rumble rodeo. Under his Zack Ryder persona, he previously competed in the 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2015 editions of the match. A return in 2025 would mark a full decade since his last Rumble appearance—perfect timing for a surprise comeback.
