Matt Cardona could soon be calling AEW home as new reports suggest he’s been offered an official contract.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion, best known as Zack Ryder, has been making waves across AEW and Ring of Honor, and his fiery feud with Chris Jericho has only added fuel to the speculation.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave the scoop, stating, “I know he [Matt Cardona] was offered a [AEW] contract. I don’t know if he’s signed or anything.” The news comes after Cardona’s recent AEW Dynamite appearance and Jericho’s shocking attack on him and Effy at a GCW event, further blurring the lines between AEW and GCW.
Cardona’s transformation since leaving WWE has been nothing short of impressive. Once a fan-favorite mid-carder, he’s reinvented himself on the independent scene, embracing a more intense, versatile persona. Now, his crossover into AEW programming feels like a natural progression, with fans eager to see if his feud with Jericho ends up as the launching pad for a full-time AEW run.
If the deal is finalized, it could mark a major turning point for Cardona’s career. AEW offers the perfect platform for him to continue his momentum and showcase his revamped style to an even larger audience. With his name already on everyone’s radar, the timing couldn’t be better for Cardona to officially plant his flag in AEW.
