What started as a strong win for Matt Cardona on the August 14 episode of Impact quickly turned into chaos — and now it’s official. Cardona will face Mustafa Ali at TNA’s Emergence event after a post-match ambush set the stage for a grudge match in Baltimore.

Cardona had just put away John Skylar when Jason Hotch and Mustafa Ali blindsided him. The beatdown escalated when Ali’s Secret Service enforcer planted Cardona with a crushing Tree Slam, leaving him laid out in the ring.

In a backstage segment later that night, the announcement was made: Cardona vs. Ali is happening live at Emergence.

The Emergence lineup is now stacked, with other bouts including:

  • Steve Maclin vs. Jake Something — No Disqualification, No Countout
  • Mike Santana vs. Sami Callihan
  • The Elegance Brand vs. Xia & Lei vs. Fatal Influence vs. The IInspiration — Knockouts Tag Team Titles

Ali, the current TNA X-Division Champion, is no stranger to bending the rules, and Cardona will no doubt be looking for payback after being left flat on his back this week. With the match now set, all eyes will be on Baltimore to see if the self-proclaimed “Internet Champion” can hand Ali a rare defeat.
