Matt Cardona is dealing with a losing streak since his return to WWE in January 2026—but his latest message makes one thing clear: he’s not backing down.

Following his loss to Trick Williams on the April 10 episode of SmackDown, Cardona took to Twitter to address the situation head-on—and he didn’t shy away from the reality of his record. Before even getting into the losses, Cardona revealed that he wasn’t originally scheduled to compete on the show at all—but still showed up ready, which led to a last-minute opportunity.

“I wasn’t originally booked to wrestle yesterday on #SmackDown. I was just going to film a commercial and maybe even fly home early. I still showed up in shape, tan, and ready to go. Guess what happened? Things changed and I got a match. I was…wait for it…Alwayz Ready. In my mind, that’s how it supposed to be. If you want opportunities, show up prepared…no matter what.”

That match ended in another loss—continuing a tough stretch that has seen Cardona pick up just one win since his return. But instead of dodging the criticism, he leaned into it. Still, Cardona made it clear that losing isn’t new to him—and it’s not something that defines his career.

“I didn’t get the win against Trick Williams. And yes, I’ve lost more matches than I’ve won since I returned to @WWE. But check my win/loss record over my 20 plus years in this business….even the past 5 years that I spent on the indies. I lose…A LOT! But when I win, I win BIG! I’M…NOT…FINISHED!”

Since returning, Cardona has struggled to build momentum, with losses piling up against names like Trick Williams, Randy Orton, Aleister Black, and others. His only win came back on the January 2 episode of SmackDown against Kit Wilson, making this skid impossible to ignore.

But if Cardona’s message says anything, it’s that he’s not viewing this run as a failure—he’s treating it as part of the process, and betting that when the moment comes, he’ll make it count.

So what do you think—can Matt Cardona turn things around in WWE, or is this losing streak a sign of what his role will be moving forward? Drop your thoughts below.
