The Kit Wilson promo that immediately preceded his quick showdown with Oba Femi on the February 6 episode of WWE SmackDown wasn’t improvised — and now the creative forces behind it have been identified.

According to Fightful Select, the in-ring promo delivered by Kit Wilson was written by Colin Clark. The speech, which leaned heavily into Wilson’s “toxic masculinity” satire, was designed to provoke a reaction and set the stage for what followed.

The match itself — Oba Femi vs. Kit Wilson — was produced by Abyss, the former TNA star who has become one of WWE’s most trusted backstage producers. The bout ended quickly, with Femi dominating Wilson in decisive fashion.

With the writer and producer now confirmed, it’s clear the segment was tightly constructed: a deliberately abrasive promo followed by a swift, physical rebuttal in the ring. WWE used the moment to make Oba Femi look dangerous while letting Kit Wilson play the lightning rod.

Did the promo-and-squash combo work for you, or did it feel like overkill? Drop your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
