AEW fans just witnessed one of the biggest upsets in the Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament so far—and it’s already shaking up the entire bracket.
During the November 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron—aka the Babes of Wrath—pulled off a massive victory over the dream team of TBS Champion Mercedes Moné and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena in the tournament quarterfinals.
The match started off with Moné and Athena jumping their opponents before the bell, with Moné choking Harley in the corner and Athena working a near fall early. But once Cameron tagged in Willow, momentum shifted. Willow delivered a missile dropkick that laid out both Moné and Athena. Cameron re-entered and nearly pinned Moné after sending her crashing to the mat.
As things unraveled, Billie Starkz appeared to interfere on behalf of Athena—but her distraction backfired when Kris Statlander stormed the ring and took Starkz out of the equation.
In the chaos, Cameron laid out Mercedes, and Cameron scored the pinfall over The CEO. That win eliminated one of the most dominant pairings in the field and locked in Babes of Wrath for a semi-final showdown with the Sisters of Sin.
This shocking result removes two champions from contention—and puts Willow and Harley just two matches away from becoming the first-ever AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions.
Do you think Willow and Harley have what it takes to win the whole thing after taking out Moné and Athena? Or will the Sisters of Sin shut them down in the next round? Drop your predictions and reactions below!
