There’s been a lot of confusion surrounding Masha Slamovich’s status in WWE and TNA after allegations of domestic violence surfaced from her former partner, AKIRA. While early reports suggested she was pulled from WWE NXT’s TNA invasion storyline and TNA’s Victory Road event, an update from Fightful Select is setting the record straight.
According to the outlet, Masha Slamovich was not removed from the WWE NXT angle because she was never booked for it in the first place. She’s currently in Spain and wasn’t scheduled to appear on the September 23 show. Fightful Select reported:
“There were some subsequent aggregations that said that we reported that Masha was ‘nixed’ from the invasion angle, which is not the case. In fact, we’re told that Masha was never planned for the September 23 angle, and isn’t even in the country, as she’s in Spain at the moment.”
That said, Slamovich is still facing consequences. TNA pulled her from last week’s Victory Road pay-per-view, where she was scheduled to challenge Ash By Elegance for the Knockouts Title. TNA confirmed to Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba that the company is conducting an internal investigation into the allegations.
WWE sources also confirmed to Fightful Select that had she been scheduled, those plans would have been paused pending the outcome of the investigation.
“WWE sources told Fightful Select that any plans of using her for the invasion angle would be paused if there were any.”
What complicates matters further is the status of Slamovich’s contract. Fightful Select noted that her TNA deal is set to expire soon, and it’s still uncertain whether she’ll remain with the company long term.
“Fightful Select has also learned that Masha’s contract with TNA is up relatively soon, and it was still up in the air whether or not she’d even remain with the company. She was scheduled to lose her TNA Knockouts Title match against Ash by Elegance, which is now in question.”
So while early reports might have painted a different picture, the update confirms she was never officially part of NXT’s TNA storyline, and her TNA career is now in limbo due to a combination of the investigation and her contract status.
Masha Slamovich’s future is hanging in the balance, and this situation shows just how quickly things can unravel in the wrestling world when legal and contractual issues collide.
