Mark Nash didn’t land his WWE gig through casting calls or networking—it happened because Triple H texted him out of nowhere.
Appearing on the You Know I’m Right podcast, Nash revealed how his journey into WWE started with a message from none other than Paul “Triple H” Levesque himself.
“I actually got a text message from Triple H. And he just basically said, ‘Hey, man. Big fan of your work. You got time for a call?’” At first, Nash didn’t believe it was real.
“I looked down at my phone and I was like, ‘What? This can’t be real.’ I almost didn’t pay attention to it because I thought it could’ve been like a political solicitation—like, ‘Give me $50 for this politician.’ But I read the whole text, and I was like, ‘What? All right, cool.’”
The timing was perfect. His contract with Top Rank Boxing was coming to an end, and WWE was ready to hand him a mic. Just days later, he made his debut—not at a random venue, but in one of the most electric arenas in the world.
“Not only did I have a debut, but I had a debut at the O2 Arena in London… They told me, ‘You’re going to take the final SmackDown in London.’ To host anything, let alone a SmackDown at the O2 with such an iconic fan base—was something special.”
Nash kept the announcement under wraps until right before the show. It wasn’t just another gig for him—it was personal.
“I’m 48 years old. I grew up with Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Jimmy Superfly Snuka, and Hacksaw. That was my generation. I was just a fan. Now you’re handing me a microphone to be part of this brand? It was overwhelming.”
Once the show aired, the reaction was instant. “My phone blew up. Friends, family… the WWE Universe was very complimentary and accepting.”
From hosting Vegas Golden Knights games to announcing boxing matches for ESPN, Nash’s path has been anything but ordinary. But a simple text from Triple H opened a new door—and now he’s the voice fans hear every Friday on SmackDown.
