Mark Henry is speaking up about what he believes is a major omission in WWE history, and he’s making it clear that legendary music composer Jim Johnston deserves recognition alongside the wrestlers he helped make famous.

During a recent conversation on Nailz Knows about the importance of entrance music in professional wrestling, the topic shifted to Johnston’s long legacy creating some of the most recognizable themes in WWE history. Henry made it clear that Johnston’s contributions weren’t just background work — they played a major role in helping superstars connect with fans the moment their music hit. As the discussion turned toward Johnston’s Hall of Fame status, Henry didn’t hesitate to explain why he believes the longtime composer should be inducted — and not placed in a secondary category.

“I don’t even think it should be the celebrity wing. He need to be in with us. Jim Johnston deserves a place. He did something for pro wrestling that a lot of wrestlers haven’t been able to do.”

Henry then expanded on why Johnston’s impact went far beyond simply creating memorable songs. He explained that Johnston’s music helped elevate multiple performers at once, something he described as rare and incredibly valuable in wrestling.

“It’s your job to get yourself over—it’s not always your job to get somebody else over. But if you’re a guy who can get other people over, they’re going to use you to get others over, because you need multiples.”

Henry closed his thoughts by making it clear that Johnston’s ability to support performers across different eras is what truly set him apart from most contributors in the industry.

“And Jim Johnston did that—with the good and with the bad.”

Jim Johnston’s work became synonymous with WWE’s identity during some of its biggest eras, with entrance themes that instantly told fans who was about to walk through the curtain. From main-event stars to rising talent, his music helped define moments before a single move was made inside the ring.

With discussions about Hall of Fame recognition continuing each year, voices like Mark Henry’s are adding more weight to the argument that Johnston’s legacy belongs alongside the wrestlers he helped make unforgettable.
